The 7-day holiday starts early with pick-up at the airport or at your accommodation in Fes. Then we will head to Meknes, capital of the Ismailis and one of the royal cities. We will visit Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the royal stables, the barn and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Lunch is free. Then drive 30 km from Meknes to see the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, they have been meticulously preserved. It features magnificent mosaics as well as ancient pillars and arches.
We headed north, through Ouazzane, to Chefchaouen, in the Rif Mountains, the Blue City. The city is famous for its houses and streets painted blue. Hotel accommodation.
We will leave Rabat after breakfast and travel along the coast to Casablanca. The city is the economic center and the largest metropolis of Morocco. First we will go to the Hassan II Mosque, the second largest mosque on the continent. Then we will go to the Cornice of Casablanca. Finally, we will travel inland to Marrakech, a red and imperial city. Do not hesitate to visit the famous Jemaa El-Fna square. Spend the night in a hotel or riad.
After an excellent breakfast, we will see the highlights of Marrakech with a native guide. The itinerary includes visits to the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs and the Ben Youssef Koranic Mosque. In addition, we will tour the largest traditional souk in Morocco. Lunch break in Jemaa El-Fna square. Later, visit the Koutoubia mosque, the largest in Marrakech, as well as the Majorelle garden. Finally, head to your hotel. You can explore Jemaa El-Fna on your own.
We will pick you up at your hotel in Marrakech first thing in the morning. Then we will enter the impressive mountains of the High Atlas and cross the port of Tizi-N-Tichka. Next we will head to the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. A fortified village that has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah has also appeared in several films, including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy and others. As well as in TV series like Game of Thrones. Lunch at a nearby restaurant. Then we continue towards Ouarzazate, known as “the gate of the desert”. Dinner and accommodation in Ouarzazate.
We will pick you up after breakfast to take you to one of the studios where many films are made. Then we will head to the Rose Valley. In May there is a Rose Festival in which the inhabitants sell their rose products. Then we will go to the Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has cut an imposing canyon of red cliffs across the mountains. Feel free to tour the gorges and enjoy the scenery.
We will cross Touroug, Tinjdad and the city of Erfoud. Then we will reach the Sahara desert of Merzouga. To cross the sandy desert, you will be transferred to camels. Then we will take you to the top of a high dune to watch the sunset. Then you will head to the camp. There you will hear Berber drum music as you dance around a bonfire and a starry sky. Dinner and overnight in a desert camp.
Seventh and last day of the seven-day route. It will rise early in the morning to contemplate the beautiful sunrise over the desert. After breakfast, you will return to Merzouga by dromedary, where your driver awaits you. Then we will leave the desert to visit Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani, with its wonderful souk, is an important economic center of the region. We will head to Erfoud after touring the Rissani souk and visiting one of the fossilized marble workshops.
We will then travel along the Ziz River, stopping for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. Lunch in Midelt. Then head to the cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaques. You can feed them while exploring the forest. Then we will go to Ifrane, which stands out for its low temperatures, snow and alpine style residences.
