Itinerary

Day 1:Fez - Ifrane - Cedar forest - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Sahara of Merzouga

The 3 days tour from Fez to Merzouga starts with an early pick up at your accommodation in Fez or at the airport. We will then head south through Imouzzer to Ifrane, famous for its frigid temperatures, snowfall and chalet-style houses; no wonder it is known as the Switzerland of Morocco. Next, we will enter the Cedar Forest, home to the Barbary macaques. While exploring the forest, feel free to feed them. Later we will travel to Midelt, where we will have lunch. Afterwards, we will drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz River before continuing our way to the Sahara Desert.

We will arrive in Merzouga, the Sahara Desert, in the afternoon. You will cross the sandy desert on the back of camels. We will take a break so that you can climb a high dune and watch the breathtaking sunset. We will head to the opulent desert tent, where you can dance around the campfire under a huge starry sky while listening to the melody of the Berber drums. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 2 :Exploring the Merzouga region - Nomads - Khamlia - Merzouga lake - Erg Chebbi - palm grove

To enjoy the magnificent sunrise in the middle of the desert, you have to get up early. At this time you will have breakfast. Then you will return to Merzouga on the back of a camel, where your driver awaits you. We spend the day exploring the Merzouga area. Numerous incredible areas, such as dunes, a wild lake, mines, fossil sites and an impressive oasis, are located nearby and are ideal experiences for various outdoor activities.
First, we will travel by off-road vehicle to an old delineator mine near Merzouga to begin our adventure. We will then visit the nomads in their handmade tent. Savor a Berber tea and discover their way of life. Our next stop is the village of Khamlia, where you can attend Gnaoua music and dance performances. Mali, Sudan and Niger are some of the sub-Saharan nations from which their people originate. Free time for lunch in a restaurant. Then, we will cross the palm grove. Afterwards, we will walk a short distance to contemplate the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as the lake of the flamingos. Dinner and rest of the night in a hotel.

Day 3 :Merzouga - Rissani - Erfoud - Ziz Valley - Ifrane - Fez

Wake up early to enjoy the magnificent sunrise in the middle of the desert. Return by camel to Merzouga, where your driver will be waiting for you, after enjoying breakfast on your own. We will then leave the desert and head towards the ancient capital of Tafilalet, the city of Rissani. Rissani is still an important commercial center of the area, with a large souk especially lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. We stroll through the souk of Rissani before going to one of the fossilized marble workshops of Erfoud.
We will then drive along the Ziz river and pause for a panoramic view of the Ziz valley. Then we will drive to Fez passing through Ifrane and the cedar forest. Finally, we will drop you off at your hotel or at the airport. The 3 days tour from Fez comes to an end.
